The Photography Show - Part Two!

Wow… time goes so quickly! I can’t believe that this was over a month ago already and Christmas stuff is now lining shelves in the supermarket! Ugh!

Pete, Kimberly, Ian, Dave C, Siân, Laura, Vanelli, Cathy, Julie and Dave W.

The Photography Show was an absolute blast and I am so so glad that I was able to attend, regardless of the crash that followed. It was incredible to see some familiar faces in the above photo, including Cathy, Pete, Dave C, Dave W and Vanelli, as well as meet Kimberly in person properly (she does the amazing graphics for the Epic Photography Podcast) as well as meet Bubbles Julie, Laura and Ian from XenceLabs.

This year the show had a creator section, filled to the brim with instagram worthy content, from cloud swings and backdrops, multi-colour zebra (see below), crazy set designs with flamingoes, giant ice cream cones in the diner section and even a gigantic camera with a roll of film - of course, all created for everyone to share content to raise awareness of the show and spark interest! It was definitely a lot of fun and a great way to capture some great pics with friends - or partners - who may have been dragged to the show!

Bright, ridiculous and a lot of fun! The Zebra Disco Diva section, complete with accessories and a Siân!

This year, I felt that excitement back at the show. Everyone was a bit more relaxed and even though still cautious about covid, it wasn’t the centre of conversation. It was all back to cameras and photography!

Being a speaker this year was very surreal, but even more so was getting to meet some of my photography idols and those who I have spoken online with but hadn’t actually ever met in person. One of my fav’s is Hannah Couzens, her work is incredible but she is also an absolutely wonderful person - and although our chat was brief at the show, it was such a pleasure to be able to actually meet properly!

And then of course, Glyn Dewis! I have followed Glyn’s work for years and not only is he a great person but is an incredible educator. His YouTube videos are the best in the business, packed full of information. I don’t know anyone in my photography circle of friends who hasn’t watched a Glyn Dewis YouTube video!

And then finally…. I can’t forget the American’s!!!

Kaylee Greer and Sam Haddix - what an absolute cracker of a couple!! They are literally the nicest people in the industry and full of energy and good vibes. For those that attended Kaylee’s class on the Tuesday morning at the show, you will know that she is the photography industry’s leading dog photographer - having even had her own Nat Geo Wild TV Series!!! WOWeeee! Her work is insane! Sam is also a great photographer himself but focusses more on the human side, rather than the fluffy ones!

It was so great to catch up with them and all of the fabulous American crew again, this time on home soil but I hope to see them all again soon - hopefully at the next KelbyOne Photoshop World - if not sooner!

The news is in that the next Photography Show isn’t until March 2024 - which makes sense, as it was always a better time of year for everyone to get to the NEC in Birmingham. Potentially a little cheaper too, so you can spend more at the show!

I can’t wait for the next show - hope to see you all there!!
