My goodness, where has the time gone? I can’t believe that we are a day away from November!
I have so much to catch up on on here and so many things to share that has happened this year, both professionally and personally - so I will take some time to do that over the next coming weeks.
The above image was created a couple years back with make up artist Gemma Sutton as a creative last look. We often work together and do between 3-5 looks each shoot, with the very last look being something a little more crazy! We opted for the fashionable Halloween skull look, because Halloween was around the corner at the time of shooting. Our model was absolutely brilliant and embraced the final look! I can’t remember if she travelled home like that or not, I hope that she did!
As technology has advanced, especially with AI, there are so many more options available for the editing process. I took the original image and made a few changes to this new image above. The main change, are the eyes. Our model had very blue eyes and although absolutely stunning, didn’t look “scary” enough for a Halloween look, so I played around in Luminar AI with the various options to eye colour and even eye size, to add more emphasis, to draw your eyes to the models eyes.
Below is the Luminar platform. After you import your image, you select ‘edit’ at the top and then you can play around with the toolbar on the right hand side. There are some preset templates which are quite good if you want a very quick edit or to give you some inspiration on what you want to do with your image.

I absolutely love the LUTS section. This gives the image a different mood entirely, depending on what look you’re going for. It’s worth going through each filter to see what changes it makes to your image. Remember that you can use the adjustment slider to either strengthen or weaken the filter. You can then click on the eye in the top right hand corner, to see what your image looked like before, so you can see what overall effect has been made.
Here is the original image, so you can see the changes made;

I have been using Luminar for a few years now and the rate that it is evolving is insane! If you want to give it a try for yourself, I have been given a discount code for friends. Just click on the link below and it’ll take you straight through to the website where you can purchase.
Creating and editing images in Photoshop used to be enjoyable anyway but now with the capabilities of AI, it opens up so much more to how your final image can look. This is just the very basic adjustments you can make and already it has transformed the image. There are, of course, applications like MidJourney, Dall-E, and Adobe Firefly, where you can create whole new worlds. I’ll be covering that in a later blog, as there is so much to cover!
Until then, enjoy the Halloween festivities…. next up - Christmas!
